what does residential safety and support services do? identifies and reduces risks present within residence halls, educates students on campus safety
what does residential safety program do? provide walk service, checks residents and guests into residence hals, reports safety concerns
incident commander (IC) oversees the management of all operations during an emergency response operation
responsibilities of IC assessing the situation, briefing staff arriving to the scene, determining the objectives and how to achieve the goals, coordinate with key people and officials, order the demobilization of the incidents when appropriate
unified command when there is more than one incident commander
liaison officer assists the responders, facilitates coordination between all responding organizations, prevents miscommunication
public information officer advices IC of all media relations and information distributed to the public, only position of ICS that communicates with the public
ICS incident command system
safety officer identifies and corrects occupational safety hazards, stops any unsafe activity that is observed, investigates accidents that occurred within the incident area, ensures compliance of OSHA standards
operations section develops and implements strategy and tactics to carry out the incident objectives, micromanages several smaller teams during an activation
planning section prepares, documents, and tracks the incident, develops plans for demobilization, tracks resources assigned to the incident
logistics section makes sure that there are adequate resources to meet the incident objectives, ensures all members are adequately rested and well-fed, provides medical services to incident personnel
finance/administration section keeps track of cost analysis of the incident, tries to find the cost compensation for any injuries or damage to properties
medical branch triage supervisor, treatment supervisor, transportation supervisor, staging supervisor
triage supervisor in charge of counting and prioritizing patients
treatment supervisor locates and sets up treatment area, separating patient by priority
transportion supervisor coordinates the transportation and distribution of patients
staging supervisor creates staging area for vehicle waiting, tracks arrivals and departures
rehabilitation supervisor establishes a rehabilitation center for first responders, may provide food and water, prevents exhaustion in responders
extraction supervisor determine equipment required for search and rescue/patient extrication situations
morgue supervisor coordinate the removal of bodies to be out of view from living patients, considers possibility of crime scene

chiefs of operations highest ranking command level position, has authority to manage scene incidents, lead CERT members, and develop incident management pans with first responders
1st deputy chief of operations (chief of training) primary role is directing training of all CERT members
2nd deputy chief of operations (chief of captains) responsible for overseeing captains and members and their records
roles of captains responsible for leading activations in the absence of chiefs and instructing select trainings throughout each semester, bridge between general members and chiefs, contact members during an emergency
president enforcement of the bylaws, director of general assembly meetings and all election processes
vice president oversees recruitment
treasurer tracks expenses
secretary creates general assembly meeting agendas, records minutes for general assembly meetings
