democracy a form of government based on the recognitions of individual rights and leaders elected by the people
monarchy king/queen, government led by an individual who holds the position for life, having inherited it.
republic country where the head of government is a chosen and elected president. ex: usa
totalitarianism the government holds absoulute control 0ver all areas of life for its people. people need to confirm or face negative circumstances.
fascism usually headed by a dictator and controls political, economical, cultural, religious, and social activities. warlike policies, hates minority groups.
dictatorship one person called a dictator has absoulute power not marked by a religious set of beliefs, makes most government decisions.
communism an economic ideology where there is little to no privte ownership of anything. all economic activity is controlled by government.
socialism a system that includes cooperation rather than competition between citizens. everyone owns the means of production and goods. everyone benefits and contributes.
oligarchy a group of self-appointed elites is in control and few people hold power. integrated into it by wealth, race, and ethnicity. rich people.
anarchy no laws, no leader, chaos, state of lawlessness
theocracy form of government in which a specific religious ideology rules. it determines leadership, laws, and customs. religious clergy.
aristocracy aristocrats have power are based on education. social elite class based on eductation, upbringing, and genetic history.
colonialism a form of government where a nation expands it sovereignty (freedom) over its borders somewhere else, often taking over indigenous and exploiting resources.
capitalism economic free market system that private individuals and businesses own means of production with goods determined by market forces.
feudalism pheasants and vassals serve a king/queen for military protection and lawfulness primarily existed in medieval Europe.
