| Hue | The pure color at the base of all variations (ex: blue is the hue behind navy). |
| value | How light or dark a color is. |
| tint | A lighter version of a color made by adding white. |
| shade | A darker version of a color made by adding black. |
| intensity/saturation | How bright or dull a color looks. |
| tone | A duller version of a color made by adding gray. |
| color wheel | A circle diagram that shows colors and how they relate. |
| primary colors | The 3 main colors (red, yellow, blue) that make all others. |
| secondary colors | Colors made by mixing two primaries (orange, green, violet). |
| tertiary colors | Colors made by mixing a primary and a secondary (ex: red-orange). |
| cool colors | Colors like green, blue, and violet that feel calming. |
| warm colors | Colors like yellow, orange, and red that feel energetic. |
| color scheme | A chosen set of colors used together. |
| color harmony | Color combos that look balanced and pleasing. |
| analogous colors | Colors next to each other on the color wheel. |
| complementary colors | Colors opposite each other on the color wheel. |
| neutrals (achromatic) | Colors without hue: black, white, gray, brown, beige. |
| monochromatic | One color plus its lighter/darker versions. |
| metamerism | When a color looks different under different lights. |
