Time, speed, Displacement, Acceleration
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Time | The SI unit of time is seconds |
| Distance | The SI Unit of distance is meters |
| Displacement | Distance in a given direction |
| Velocity | The rate of change of displacement with respect to time |
| Speed | Is the rate pof change of distance with respect to time, SI u it is meter per second |
| Instantaneous Speed | is the speed of an object at a particular instant or point in time |
| Instantaneous speed = | The average speed measured over a very short distance or time interval to a very high degree of accuracy |
| Constant Velocity | If an object moves in a straight line and does not speed up or slow down, it has a constant velocity |
| Acceleration | The rate of change of velocity with respect to time |
| Uniform acceleration | If an object is picking up or losing velocity at the same steady rate or if the average velocity between any two points in a journey wy is always the same, then that body has a constant acceleration |
| Velocity time graphs: slope= Area underneath= straight line= | the slope is the acceleration the area underneath is the distance travelled if the slope is a straight line then its acceleration is constant |
| Sources of error in measuring acceleration due to gravity using free fall apparatus | Use smallest value for t since inaccurate measurements tend to be overstated avoid parallax error when measuring s & measure from the bottom of the ball Ensure the ball used is small, dense, polished, round, sphere. the air resistance is negligible |
