| chymosunthesis | the process by which bacteria use energy stored in bonds of hydrogen sulfide to convert carbon dioxide and water into sugars |
| chlorofluorocarbon | a chemical compound containing chlorine, fluorine, and carbon, developed for use refrigeration and spray-can propellants |
| city planning | the process of designing cities to maximizes their functianality |

| composting | the conversation of organic wastes into multch or humus through natural or biological processes of decomposition |
| compound | a substance combining two of atoms or more different elements |

| demographic transition | a theory that links lower birth rates and death rates in a population to improvements in education, economic conditions, and helthcare |

| density independent factor | a limiting factor who's influence is not affected by the population density includes catastrophic events |

| desalination | the process of removing salt from salt water also called desalinization |
| desertification | a loss of more than 10 percent in the productivity of soil due to erosion, deforestation, overgrazing, drought or other factors |
