| talon | A sharp claw of a bird of prey, like an eagle or hawk. |
| nestle | To snuggle or settle comfortably; to lie close in a sheltered spot. |
| rigid | Stiff and not flexible; not bending easily. Also means strict or not willing to change. |
| perch | A place to sit or rest, often up high; to sit or rest on something above the ground. |
| guffaw | A loud, hearty laugh; to laugh loudly and heartily. |
| rapid | Fast or quick; a part of a river where the water flows very fast. |
| alcove | A small recessed space in a wall or room. |
| jolt | To move suddenly or roughly; to shock or surprise; a sudden movement or shock. |
| stern | Serious, strict, or firm; the back part of a boat. |
| cheapskate | A person who is unwilling to spend money; stingy. |
| squabble | A small argument or quarrel; to argue about something small or silly. |
| easygoing | Relaxed and not easily upset; laid-back. |
| burrow | A hole or tunnel dug by an animal for shelter; to dig or tunnel into something. |
| erupt | To burst out suddenly; to explode (as with lava or anger). |
| relaxed | Calm, comfortable, and not tense. |
| pace | The speed at which something moves or happens; to walk back and forth, often when nervous. |
| guzzle | To drink or eat quickly and greedily. |
| stingy | Not generous; unwilling to share or spend money. |
| fang | A long, sharp tooth, especially in animals like snakes or wolves. |
| gush | To flow out quickly and in large amounts; to speak with excitement; a sudden strong flow. |
| ample | More than enough; plentiful. |
| tempo | The speed or rhythm of something, especially music. |
| clash | A conflict or disagreement; to fight, argue, or be out of harmony. |
| nubby | Having a rough, bumpy, or textured surface. |
| chuckle | To laugh quietly or softly; a gentle laugh. |
