What is the federal pillars and what does it demonstrate? The federal pillars is a cartoon made against Rhode Island for their refusal to ratify the U.S. Constitution.
What is included in John Adams letter to John Penn? The message is that a republic form of government is the best form of government because it promotes happiness and well-being. He says that this form of gov. is based on laws and representatives rather than personal opinions.
What was the goal of the Preamble? The goal of the Preamble is to explain why the constitution is implemented.
What does "We the People" mean? We the people means that the people of the United States are united and want to implement fair laws, keep peace, and protect the country.
What did James Maddison say/implement? Madison states that people with large amounts of power will abuse them. The government should control these abuses by using checks and balances.
What will Check and Balances do? Checks and balances will make sure that each branch checks each other and that power is equally distributed.
What is said in Thomas Jefferson Letter to Danbury Baptist Association? That freedom of religion and beleifs is necessary and the government shouldn't interfere with personal beliefs/worship. (fifth amendment)
What does amendment 1-10 in the U.S. Constitution do? protect individual rights/freedoms and limits the government power.
What does amendment 13-15 in the U.S. Constitution do? ended slavery and gave citizenship/voting rights.
What did amendment 18 and 21 do? The 18th amendment banned alcohol and the 21st amendment repealed the ban. (unbanned alcohol)
What did amendment 19 do? Gave women the right to vote.
How does the Constitution ensure the consent of the governed? (4 ways) Representative democracy, separation of powers, checks and balances, and federalism.
What are 2 ways Amendments can be added to the US Constitution? proposing and ⅔ of congress and ¾ of state legislatures approve or ⅔ of state legislatures call a convention and ¾ of state conventions approve.
