Hazard A condition that can cause injury, illness, death, or loss of property
Hazard Categories Biological, mechanical, acceleration(de), materials/substances, energy, work conditions, and structural conditions
Mechanical Hazard crushing, ejection, flexture, friction, misalignment, pinch points, rotation, sharp edges, and vibration
Biological Hazard viruses, bacteria, fungi, prions, allergens
Risk Equation Probability x serverity of outcome
Accident vs Incident Incident = could have caused loss but didn't Accident = caused loss/injury
Types of Loss Property damage, injury, death, downtime, finantial, reputation
Safety relative freedom from danger, risk, or some type of threat
Severity degree of the loss
Exposure proximity to a hazard
Risk Tolerance Acceptable level of risk selected
Mitigation An action or feature to reduce risk
Hazard Analysis Identifying and studying sources of danger
Risk Analysis Evaluating severity and frecuency of hazards
Risk Management Monitoring and maintaining hazards at an acceptable risk level
