What did mary do? tried to assasinate Elizabeth with Phillip II of Spain, 1588 spanish fleet meets english fleet and english win tremendously, battle of english channel (very decisive win)
growth of reformation in geneva john calvin makes calvinism (predestination) and this is the foundation for the presbyterians (founded by john Knox in scotland), huguenots

Netherlands revolt Netherlans given to Phillip II and tried to enforce catholicism 7/17 provinces revolted forming the union of ultrecht, phillip asks elizabeth for help but she turns on him
30 yrs war after augsburg 2 leagues (P) + (C) then 2 catholics thrown out of a window = war, 4 phases, peace of westphalia in 1648 ended the war, recognized princes limits king authority, religious wars end in europe
