C-II Potential for abuse: High potential for abuse; used for medical purposes; abuse may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence EX: Opium, codeine, morphine, methadone
C-III Potential for abuse: under this schedule is less than that of controlled substances under C-II; Abuse may lead to moderate or low physical dependance or high pyschological dependence; most schedule III drugs are combination narcotics EX: Acetaminophen/Co
C-IV Potential for abuse: Low compared with C-III drugs: abuse may lead to limited physical or psychological dependence EX: Diazepam, lorazepam, pentazocine
C-V Potential for abuse: Low compared with C-IV drugs; abuse may lead to limited physical or psychological dependence
Cannabis Legality *1970 The possession of canabis is illegal and is categorized as a schedule I substance
Canabidiol An oil derived from the canabis plant
Reverse Distributor All controlled substances that are unwanted, unusable, or outdated are returned to the distributor
Emergency Filling of C-II Drugs An oral order in place of a written prescription is permitted only in emergency situations
Indications and Usage -The conditions the drug is approved to treat, listed in bulleted fro ease of reading. -Pharmacological class of the drug(to remind the prescriber of the drugs mechanism of action) -All limitations, such as patients who should not use the drug
Dosage and Administration Includes the recommended dosage regimen, dosage range, the manner in which the medication should be administered, and pharmacological information
Contraindication Lists clear situations in which the drug should absolutely not be used. It describes specific conditions in which the risk from taking the medication clearly outweighs any possible therapeutic benefit, in addition to known hazard of the drug. This is base
Adverse Reactions, Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR), or Adverse Drug Event (ADE) The most commonly occuring adverse reactions and the incidence of these effects
Drug Interactions Both food and drug interactions are listed, as are instructions on how to prevent or lessen the interaction. Also, included are conditions in which the drug interaction necessitates a dosage adjustment
Drug Abuse and Dependence If shown patients have shown any tendency to become addicted to the medication or if th e medication has been found to be abused by patietnts, the info is listed in this section
Clinical Pharmacology Describes how other drugs can interact with the medication and alerts the prescriber to adverse reactions.
How Supplies/Storage and Handling Information about how the medication is supplied often is given in chart format because it lists varying strengths, amount of drugs per container, dosage form, and whether the medication has any special requirements , such as protection from light or stor
