| Albuterol, Terbutaline, Levalbuterol | Short acting bronchodilators. Nervousness, Tremor, Chest pain ,Palpitations, Arrhythmias. Notify if no change, monitor airway, use then wait five minutes then use steroid. |
| Aminophylline, Theophylline | long acting bronchodilator IV, Tachycardia, Anxiety, Insomnia, Restlessness.Increase dose for smokers, limit caffeine, assess ECG. Therapeutic level 10-19mcg/mL, toxicity>20 mcg/mL. |
| Ipratropium | Anticholinergic Bronchodilator INH, Dry mouth, Urinary retention, Constipation, Blurred vision. Use first then steroid. can be combined with nebulizer. |
| Beclomethasone, Prednisone, Dexamethasone, Budesonide | Decreases inflammation. Cough, Rhinitis, Dry mouth, Oral fungal infections.Taper slowly, monitor weight and electrolytes, FSBS, should wear medic alert, suppresses immunity, rinse mouth to prevent thrush. |
