| elements | chemical substance with a given set of properties that cant be broken down. |
| nucleus | central core. particles of protons, and neutrons. |
| molecule | combination of two or more atoms with the same type or different types |
| compound | composed atoms of two or more elements. |
| hydrocarbons | organic compounds only containing hydrogen and carbon |
| solution | solutions can be liquid gasses or solids. |
| macromolecules | Proteins, nucleic aids, and carbohydrates. Because of their big size. They play an important role in life. |
| protein | Organic compounds made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sometimes sulfur. It helps produce tissue and provide support. |
| nucleic acids | Macro molecules that direct protein production. |
| carbohydrates | polymers that consist of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. |
| Lipids | chemically diverse group of macro molecules that are classified together because they do not dissolve in water. |
| pH | describes the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. |
| feedback loop | an event is both a cause, of input, output |
