| Term | Definition |

| Longitude | Vertical lines that measure E or W of the Prime Meridian |
| Latitude | The distance between the equator and a place north or south of the equator (latitude gratitude) |
| Coordinates | A pair of numbers on a globe or map that shows where something is exactly located |
| Degree | The distance between parallels and meridians |
| Hemisphere | Any half of a sphere or half the earth |
| Prime Meridian | Imaginary line that helps divide the earth into eastern and western halves (vertical) |
| Equator | An imaginary line around the middle of the earth (lateral) |
| South Pole | The point in the Southern Hemisphere where the Earth's axis of rotation meets it's surface |
| International Date Line | An imaginary line designated as a place where each calender day begins (vertical) |
| Antartic Circle | The most southernly of the five major circles of latitude |
| Artic Circle | The most northernmost latitude line witch the sun does not set on the summer solstice and doesn't rise on the winter solstace |
| Tropic of Capricorn | The most southernmost latitude where the sun can be seen directly overhead |
| Tropic of Cancer | The most northerly circle of latitude on Earth at witch the sun can be directly overhead |
| North Pole | The point in the northern hemisphere wherethe Earth's axis of rotation meets it's surface |
