Chapter 22 – Temperance and Dietetics

| Temperance | Moderation in actions, thoughts, or consumption. Habitual moderation in the indulgence of appetite or passions. |
| Intemperance | Excessive indulgence, especially in harmful habits. Lack of moderation; excessive indulgence. |
| Dietetics | The study of diet and nutrition. Science of diet and its effects on health. |
| Stimulant | A substance that increases physiological activity. Something that excites or increases bodily functions. |
| Self-control | The ability to regulate one's behavior and emotions. The restraint of one's own desires and actions. |
| Nutrient | A substance that provides nourishment for growth and maintenance. Something that nourishes the body. |
| Mastication | The process of chewing food thoroughly. Chewing to aid digestion. |
| Serenity | The state of being calm and peaceful. Peacefulness; tranquility. |
| Endowments | Natural abilities or qualities. Gifts or talents given by nature. |
| Regularity | Consistent adherence to routine or principles. Methodical order or recurrence. |
| Moderation | Avoidance of excess or extremes. Restraint in actions or habits. |
