Module 2 Vocabulary

TermDefinition
multiple the number you get when you multiply a whole number by another whole number
greatest common factor (GCF) the greatest nonzero whole number that is a factor of both numbers.
least common multiple (LCM) the smallest whole number greater than zero that is a multiple of both numbers
prime factorization the number written as a product of prime numbers.
reciprocal the number obtained by inverting a fraction.
quotient the answer you get after dividing one number by another.
divisor the number of groups you are making or how many items go into each group
dividend the total amount you are dividing
prime number a whole number greater than one that can only be divided evenly by 1 and itself
composite number a whole number that can be divided evenly by numbers other than just 1 and itself
