Chronological Order A record of events starting with the earliest and following the order in which they occurred.
Timeline A graphic representation of the passage of time as a line
Era A long and distinct set of years with a particular feature or characteristic
B.C. Before Christ, the years before Jesus was born. Christian system.
A.D. Anno Domini, the years after Jesus was born, "In the year of our lord". Christian System
B.C.E. Before the Common Era, Scientific system
C.E. Common Era, Scientific system
Calendar A tool used for organizing and marking the passing of time.
Map A visual representation of an area
Map key/Legend Shows what symbols on a map means.
Compass Rose A circle showing the cardinal directions on a map
Scale The relationship between the distance on a map and the distance in real life.
Longitude Distance measured in degrees. The lines run North and South and tell you how far East and West you are from the Prime Meridian.
Prime Meridian The 0 degree line that divides the earth into Eastern and Western Hemispheres
Latitude Distance measured in degrees. The lines run East and West and tell you how far North and South you are from the Equator.
Equator The 0 degree line that divides the earth into Northern and Southern Hemispheres
Primary Sources written source that provides direct or firsthand evidence about an event, object, or person.
Secondary Sources written source that relates or discusses information that was originally presented elsewhere
Artifacts an object made or modified by a human being
Fossils any preserved remains, impression, or trace of any once-living thing from a past
Fact something that can be proven true
Opinion a belief or feeling about something
Credible A source is trustworthy or reliable
