Math Vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
Integers all the whole numbers AND their opposites
Rational numbers are any numbers that can be written as a fraction (one whole number divided by another whole number)
Absolute value is how far a number is from zero, no matter which direction
A coordinate plane is like a map with two number lines that cross each other to help you find exact locations
X-axis The horizontal (left-right) number line
Y-axis: The vertical (up-down) number line
Origin: Where the two lines meet at (0, 0)
Quadrants: The coordinate plane is divided into four sections
ordered pair is the address of a point on the coordinate plane, written as (x, y).
polygon is a flat shape made of straight lines that connect to form a closed figure.
irregular polygon is a polygon where the sides are NOT all the same length OR the angles are NOT all the same size
