Different Properties
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Commutative Property | the ORDER in which numbers are added or multiplied does not change the sum or product |
| Associative Property | The way in which numbers are GROUPED when they are added or multiplied does not change the sum or the product |
| Distributive Property | The numbers outside the parentheses is multiplied with each number inside. |
| Additive Identity Property | When 0 is added to any number, the number stays the same. |
| Zero Product Property | When any number is multiplied by zero, the result is always zero. |
| Additive Inverse Property | When a number is added to its OPPOSITE the result is zero. |
| Multiplicative Property | When a number is multiplied by its reciprocal the result is one. |
| Addition Property of Equality | ¨adding the same value to both sides of an equation will not change the truth value of the equation¨ |
| Subtraction Property of Equality | ¨ subtracting the same value to both sides of an equation will not change the truth value of the equation ¨ |
| Multiplication Property of Equality | ¨ multiplying the same value to both sides of an equation will not change the truth value of the equation ¨ |
| Division Property of Equality | ¨ dividing both sides of an equation by the same non-zero value will not change the value of the equation¨ |
