| Distributive property | to multiply a sum by a number multiply each addend of the sum by the numbers outside the parentheses. For any number |
| Multiplicative Identity Property | the product of any number and one is the number |
| multiplicative inverses | two numbers with a product of 1 |
| Multiplicative Property of Zero | the product of any number and zero is zero |
| opposites | two integers are opposites if they are represented om the number line by two points that are the same distance from zero, but on opposite sides of zero. The sum of two opposites is zero. |

| rational number | The set of numbers that can be written in the form a/b where a and b are integers |
