| Term | Definition |

| Absolute Value | The distance the number is from zero on a number line. |
| Additive Inverse Property | The sum of any number and its additive inverse is zero. |
| Additive Inverses | Two integers that are opposites. The sum of an integer and its additive inverse is zero. |
| Bar Notation | In repeating decimals, the line or bar placed over digits that repeat. For example. 2.63 indicates that the digits 63 repeats. |
| Distributive Property | To multiply a sum by a number, multiply each addend of the sum by the number outside the parentheses. For any numbers a, b, and c, a (b+c) +ab+ac and a(b-c)= ab-ac. |
| Multiplicative Identity Property | The product of any number with the product of 1. |
| Multiplicative Inverses | Two numbers with the product of one |
| Multiplicative Property of Zero | The product of any number and zero is zero |
| Opposites | Two integers are opposites if they represented on the number that points are the same distance from zero but opposite sides of zero. The sum of two opposites are zero. |
| Order of Operations | The rules to follow when more than on operation is used |
| Rational Number | The set of numbers that can be written as a/b, a and b, a:b, b=0 |
| Repeating Decimal | A decimal in which 1 or more digits repeat |
| Terminating Decimal | A decimal with a repeating digit of zero. |
