2. 3 Gas Behavior
Pressure Temperature volume gas laws 8th grade
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| pressure | force of gases that push outward over an area of the walls of the container |
| temperature | is a measure of the average kinetic energy of the particles in an object or substance |
| volume | amount of space that matter occupies |
| Charles's law | the temperature of a gas is decreased at constant pressure then its volume decreases |
| Boyle's law | pressure of a gas is a constant then temperature is increased the volume of the gas decreases |
| Kelvin | temperature measured as Celsius zero then the Kelvin is 273 |
| Proportional | a relationship between two variables where a change in one quantity causes a consistent and predictable change in the other |
| directly proportional | two quantities are directly proportional if they change at the same rate |
| indirectly proportional | as one quantity increases, the other decreases, and vice-versa, such that their product remains a constant |
| physical property | a characteristic that can be observed without changing the matter into another type of matter |
