levee an embankment built to prevent the overflow of a river
sea wall a wall or embankment erected to prevent the sea from encroaching on or eroding an area of land

seismological studies the study of earthquakes and seismic waves that move through and around the Earth
GIS Maps short for Geographic Information System maps, are dynamic tools that display data layered on top of geographic locations, allowing for customizable combinations of data and spatial analysis
infrared/satellite imagery captures images by detecting the thermal radiation (heat) emitted by objects on Earth's surface or cloud tops, allowing for 24/7 weather observation and analysis, including cloud heights and temperatures
