TermDefinition
Evaluating Comparing observations and data to reach conclusion.
Inferring Explaining or interpreting observations.
Investigating Studying or Researching a subject to discover facts or to reveal new information.
Models Complex model processes, Miniature recreation
Observing Using one or more of your senses to gather information.
Predicting A statement of what will happen in the future based on past experience or evidence.
Ethics Rules for knowing right or wrong.
Skeptical Having doubts about things based on past experiences and evidence
Bias Likes or dislikes of people , ideas , or things.
Scientific inquiry method Scientists contribute to scientific knowledge by conducting Investigations,researching , collecting data, and drawing conclusions.
A hypothesis A possible answer to a scientific question that can be tested.
Scientific law Describes, but does not explain, an observed pattern in nature.
Scientific Theory A well tested explanation for a wide range of observations or experimental results.It can change if new evidence is found.
Criteria The factors that must be met or accomplished by the solution in order to be successful
Constraints Limitations:Money and time
Prototype A working model of the solution.
Mean Average of your data:add the data and divide by the number of numbers in the set.
Median Middle number when put in numerical number.
Mode The data that shows up most often
Range Difference between the largest and smallest data -Subtract the smallest form the largest.
Quantitative Uses a number to describe something
Qualitative Uses characteristics to describe things
Opinions Personal feelings that cannot be tested scientifically
Independent variable Factor that you changed in a experiment
Dependent variable Factor that you measure in an experiment
