| Habitable | having the conditions necssary to suport life |
| Rocky planets | the planet with a solid surface, such as Earth or Mars |
| system | a set interacting parts forming a complex whole |
| landform | a feature that forms on the surface of a planet such as a mountain |
| channel | a long narrow groove that forms where water,lava, or other liquid flows |
| geologic process | an event or series of events that causes changes in the goeshare,such as flowing water |
| model | an object, diagram, or computer program that helps us understand something by making it simpler or easier to see |
| claim | is a statement that answers a question about an observation or a scientific problem its a conclusion based on evidence and reasoning |
| evidence | is the data and observations you collect to support a claim. its the information that helps answer a scientific question |
| reasoning | is the explanation that connects your eviedence to your claim. its the "why" or "how" your evidence prove your claim |
| mantle | the layer of soft,solid rock underneath Earth's plates |
| convergent | moving toward the same place |
| divergent | moving apart in different directions |
| mid ocean ridge | an underwater mountain range formed when two plates move apart |
| trench | a long,deep indentation in the ocean floor formed when two plates move together |
| volcanic activity | any of the many process (such as eruptions and lava flows) Which gas,lava, and ash are pushed out on the surface Earth |
