Proportional Relationships
| Term | Definition |

| center | a point that is the same distance from EVERY point on the circle |
| circle | A 2 dimensional shape in which EVERY point is the same distance from the center. |
| circumference | The distance around the OUTSIDE of the circle. |
| diameter | A line segment that goes through the center of the circle. |
| complex fraction | A fraction in which the numerator, denominator, or both is a fraction. |
| constant of proportionality | The unit rate in a proportional relationship |
| Pi | In a circle, the quotient circumference/diameter; common approximation is 3.14 |
| proportional relationship | The relationship between 2 quantities where 1 quantity is a constant multiple of the other quantity. |
| radius | A line segment from the center of a circle to ANY point on the circle. |
| scale | The ratio that tells the relationship between a length in a drawing/map/model and the actual length. |
| scale drawing | A drawing in which the measurements correspond to the measurements of the actual object by the same scale. |
| scale factor | A factor that relates the corresponding side lengths of a figure and a scale drawing of the figure. |
