Vocabulary Words

Geography The study of the earth and the way people live on it and use it.
Location A place ´ s address latitude and longitude Where is it?
Place The physical features are plants, climate, animals, and ETC.
Human-Environment Interaction H.E.I is how the environment affects humans and how humans affect the earth.
Movement How and why people, goods and ideas move.
Regions Places grouped together with similar characteristics.
Environment All the surroundings of a place such as land, water, weather, plants, and the changes people have done.
Continent a large body of land (there are 7)
Hemisphere half circle, one of the halves of the earth
latitude the distance north and south of the equator 0 degrees, measured in degrees
longitude the distance east and west of the prime meridian 0 degrees, measured in degrees
equator an imaginary line circling the earth, halfway between the North and South Pole runs east and west
Prime Meridian the line of longitude marked of 0 degrees on the world map, imaginary line running north south
climate a pattern of weather that an area has over a long period of time
cardinal directions main directions, north, south, east, west
intermediate directions directions in between nw, sw, ne, nw
