density, sigfigs, periodic table

density how heavy something is relative to it's size
density calc density equals mass over volume
volume the amount of space an object occupies. liquid is measure in liters, mass in cubic centimeters
volume calc volume equals length times width times height, volume equals mass over density
mass calc mass equals density over volume
accuracy agreement of a measurement with a known or accepted value- correctness
precision agreement of a measurement with other similar measurements- repeatability
sigfig rule 0 all nonzero digits are significant
sigfig rule 1 any zero between sigfigs is significant
sigfig rule 2 any zero at the beginning of a number is NOT significant
sigfig rule 3 any zero at the end of the number and to the right of a decimal is significant
sigfig rule 4 any zero to the end of a number to the left of a decimal is NOT significant unless specified
sigfig rule 5 when adding/subtracting sigfigs, answer will have the same # of decimal places as the number with the fewest sigfigs
sigfig rule 6 when multiplying/dividing sigfigs, answer will have the same # of sigfigs as the number with the fewest sigfigs
