| Solution of an Equation in one variable | The value of the variable that makes the statement (equation, etc) true. x=6 |
| Commutative Property of Addition | a+b = b+a, same result no matter the order |
| Commutative Property of Multiplication | ab = ba, same result no matter the order |
| Associative Property of Addition | (a+b) + c = a + (b+c) when 3 or more numbers with parenthesis are present, how they're grouped with the parenthesis doesn't matter. |
| Associative Property of Multiplication | (ab)c = a(bc) when 3 or more numbers with parenthesis are present, how they're grouped with the parenthesis doesn't matter. |
| Identity Property of Addition | a+0=a, 0+a=a adding zero to any number results in the same number |
| Identity Property of Multiplication | a(1) = a, 1(a) = a multiplying one by any number results in the same number |
| Inverse Property of Addition | a+(-a) = 0 adding an opposite value to cancel out the value. |
| Inverse Property of Multiplication | a(1/a) = 1, ("a" doesn't equal zero) multiplying an opposite value to cancel out the value |
