The Outsiders

foreshadowing when an author provides hints that predict future events in a story
alliteration the repetition of consonants in a phrase or line
metaphor the comparison of one thing to another without like or as
theme the underlying meaning or message of a literary work
personification non-living things are given human traits
hyperbole exaggerated statements not meant to be taken literally
idiom expression that carries a non literal meaning
