Setting Time and place of story
Exposition Events before the plot is set in motion
Rising action Events leading up to Climax
Climax The turning point in the story
Falling action Events after the climax
Resolution Events after the conflict is resolved
Narrator The one who tells the story
First person POV everyone else in story
Second person POV the readers actions are narrated
Third person limited POV thoughts and feelings of one character
Third person omniscient POV "all knowing" thoughts and feelings of multiple characters
Protagonist The central or main characters in a story
Antagonist The character,groups of characters or institution that opposes the protagonist
Flat character An one-dimensional character that does not display emotional depth and has a single set of traits
Round Character A well developed lifelike character that demonstrates multiple sides, traits and has a single set of traits
Dynamic character The character that undergoes the significant inner change
Static character A character that does not change significantly
Man vs. Man A situation in which two characters have opposing desires or interests. The typical scenario is a conflict between the protagonist and the antagonist
Man vs. society In this type of conflict a character must take on society not a single person. The character stands at odds with societal norms and realizes the necessity to work against these norms
Man vs. self A character must overcome his own nature or make a choice between two or more paths- Good and evil; logic and emotion
Man vs. Nature a character in tormented by natural forces such as storms or animals
