American Revolution

TermDefinition
tax an amount of money that is paid to the government of your city, your state, or your country so that it can pay for public services like roads, trains, buses, and schools
debt large amount of money owed
French and Indian War war fought in the American colonies between England and France over who would control Indian lands in the new colonies of North America. It occurred between 1754 and 1763. The end result was British gained access to the Ohio River Valley.
Sugar Act (1764) new money tax on molasses
Stamp Act (1765) new money tax on newspapers, dice, and playing cards
Townshend Act (1767) new money tax on paint, glass, paper, and tea
Tea Act (1773) The East India Company gets special advantages in selling tea to the colonies
Loyalist a colonist who supports British rule
Patriot a colonist who supports and favors American rule
