Urodziłam się w Johannesburgu, w Republice Południowej Afryki, ale dorastałam w Wielkiej Brytanii. I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, but grew up in the UK.
Nie pamiętam moich rodziców i nigdy nie chciałam ich odnaleźć. I don't remember my parents and I've never wanted to find them.
Kiedy miałam cztery lata, adoptowało mnie dwoje cudownych ludzi – Bruce i Anne. When I was four, I was adopted by two wonderful people – Bruce and Anne.
Bruce był księgowym, a Anne miała małą piekarnię w centrum Manchesteru. Bruce was an accountant, and Anne had a small bakery in Manchester city centre.
Ludzie kupowali tam chleb, pączki i ciasta, a nawet czekali dwie godziny przed sklepem. People used to buy bread, doughnuts and cakes. They even waited for two hours in front of the shop!
Piekarnia nazywała się „Made of Sugar and Love”. It was the best bakery in Manchester and it was called 'Made of Sugar and Love'.
Zaczęłam piec i gotować, kiedy miałam siedem lat. I started baking and cooking when I was seven.
Po maturze zdecydowałam się pojechać do Paryża. After my A-levels, I decided to go to Paris.
Tam znajduje się słynna szkoła kulinarna „The Blue Ribbon” Cooking Academy. There is a famous school there called 'The Blue Ribbon' Cooking Academy.
Pojechałam tam i ukończyłam szkołę w 2002 roku. I went there and graduated in 2002.
Zostałam najlepszą studentką Akademii i dostałam ofertę pracy. I became the best student at the Academy, so I got a job offer.
Pracowałam trzy lata w restauracji „Blue Ribbon”. I worked there for three years at the "Blue Ribbon" restaurant.
W 2006 roku zaczęłam pracować w restauracji hotelu Ritz we Francji. In 2006 I got a new job, at the restaurant of the Ritz Hotel in France.
Spotkałam tam i gotowałam dla sławnych osób, takich jak Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis, Jennifer Lopez i Lady Gaga. I met and cooked for famous people there, including Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis, Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga.
W 2007 roku moi rodzice zginęli w wypadku samochodowym, więc wróciłam do Wielkiej Brytanii. When my parents died in a car accident in 2007, I returned to the UK.
Kupiłam miejsce, gdzie kiedyś była nasza piekarnia, i otworzyłam własną restaurację. I decided to buy the place where our bakery used to be and opened my own restaurant.
Otworzyłam „Heaven on Earth” w 2008 roku. I opened 'Heaven on Earth' in 2008.
W 2009 roku, kiedy Lady Gaga odwiedziła moją restaurację, staliśmy się sławni. In 2009, when Lady Gaga came to visit us, we became famous.
Teraz restauracja jest jedną z najlepszych w Wielkiej Brytanii. Now the restaurant is one of the best in the UK.
Anne piekła w nocy, ponieważ piekarnia musiała być otwarta o szóstej rano. Anne baked in the evenings because the bakery had to be open at six in the morning.
To była najlepsza piekarnia w Manchesterze. It was the best bakery in Manchester.
Robiłam pączki z dżemem pomarańczowym, które nazywały się „Paddingtons”. I made doughnuts with orange jam called 'Paddingtons'.
Potrafiłam upiec około 50 pączków dziennie. I was baking probably 50 of them a day.
Zawsze chciałam studiować w Akademii „Blue Ribbon”. I always wanted to study at the 'Blue Ribbon' Academy.
Niestety, supermarkety wygrały i ludzie przestali przychodzić do naszej piekarni. Unfortunately, the supermarkets won, and people stopped coming to us.
Moi rodzice zdecydowali się sprzedać piekarnię. My parents decided to sell the bakery.
Dzięki temu dostałam pieniądze na studia we Francji. And I got the money to study in France.
Był to wspaniały czas w moim życiu. It was a wonderful time in my life.
Kiedy straciłam rodziców, czułam się bardzo przygnębiona. I was depressed when I lost my parents.
Moi przyjaciele pomogli mi finansowo i wspierali mnie w otwarciu własnej restauracji. My friends helped me financially and supported me in opening my own restaurant.
