| Simile | Compares two unlike things using works such as like or as. |
| Metaphor | metaphor compares two unlike things without using the words like or as. |
| five sense | words that appeal to the five sense and/or language that allows the reader to create mental images |
| connotation | The feelings, ideas, or emotions a word. |

| Introduction | The Introduction to the story that usually reveals the sitting of the major character and the conflict |

| Hyperbole | A type of figurative language that makes an exaggerated statement which is not meant to be taken literally |

| climax | The event that is the turning point in the story, at which the confitct is usually resolved |
