Prostate gland Walnut-sized exocrine gland in men at the base of the urinary bladder and secretes a fluid component of semen
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) AKA benign prostatic hypertrophy/prostatomegaly; Non-cancerous gradual enlargement of the prostate gland that may compress the urethra causing urine retention
Cryptorchism Failure of one or both testicles to descend into the scrotum that increases risk of testicular cancer and sterility
Orchiopexy Treatment to fixate testicle(s) back in normal position

Testicular Cancer Malignancy that develops in both the testes where there is a lump on palpation with the swelling and pain of the testicle

Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test Blood test that measures PSA to diagnose prostate issues, BPA, and prostate cancer
PSA Protein produced both cancerous and non-cancerous tissue in the prostate where elevated PSA is indicative of cancer
Digital rectal exam Examination of the prostate gland by finger palpation through the anal canal and the rectum
Transrectal Ultrasonography (TRUS) Creates an image of the prostate gland using soundwaves where a US probe is inserted into the rectum as a diagnostic tool for BPH and prostate cancer
BPH Treatments Transurethral resection of the prostate; A resectoscope is inserted through the tip of the penis and into the urethra where parts of the prostate are cut away; A laparoscopic procedure is an alternative
Vasectomy Sterilization procedure that involves a bilateral cutting and tying of the vas deferens that prevents passage of sperm
Vasovasostomy Vasectomy reversal; Creating a new opening of the vas deferens to the vas deferens
Erectile agents Treat ED by increasing blood flow to the penis
Gonadotropins Hormonal preparation used to increase sperm count in infertility
