Physical change A change that does not result in a new substance being produced
Phase change When a substance changes from one state of matter to another
Evaporation The change of state where a liquid changes to a gas at the surface of the liquid
Condensation A change of state where a gas is cooled and forms a liquid
Sublimation A change of state from solid to gas
Chemical change A change that results in a new substance being formed

Temperature The amount of heat in a substance
Heat When the particles in a substance are vibrating very fast
Chemical Reaction The process of rearranging atoms in substances to form different substances
Reactants The substances that are reacted together in chemical reactions

Word equation A simple chemical equation where chemicals are represented by their names
Formula equation A type of equation that expresses a relationship between different quantities using variables
