TermDefinition
acute angle An angle that is open less than a right angle. (Less than 90 degrees.)
adjacent angles Two angles that share a common side and a common vertex.
angle The figure formed when two rays meet at a common point.
degree The unit used to measure angles.
intersecting lines Lines that cross at exactly one point.
line Lines that cross at exactly one point.
line segment A part of a line that includes two endpoints and all the points between them.
obtuse angle An angle that is open more than a right angle and less than a straight angle.
parallel lines Lines that never intersect.
perpendicular lines Lines that intersect to form four right angles.
point An exact location in space.
protractor A tool for measuring and drawing angles.
ray A part of a line that has one endpoint and goes on without end in one direction.
right angle An L-shaped angle that equals 90°.
straight angle An angle that forms a straight line and equals 180°.
vertex / vertices The point at which two lines, line segments, or rays of an angle intersect.
sides One of the line segments that make a flat (2-dimensional) shape.
