Big Ideas Chapter 1

TermDefinition
period Each group of three digits separated by commas in a multi-digit number.
ones period The one's period consists of the digits in the hundreds, tens, and one's
place value chart A chart that shows the value of each digit in a number and how the place values are grouped.
expanded form A way to write a number that shows the sum of values of each digit of a number.
standard form The numerical version of a number where each number has a place value.
word form A way to write the number using words.
thousands period Three place values under the thousands period are thousands, ten thousands, and hundred thousands.
