| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| period | how long it takes to go through its full motion once |
| frequency | how many waves go by in a second |
| wavelength | the distance between one crest to the next |
| amplitude | the distance from the midline to the top of the wave |
| transparent | Allowing nearly all light to pass through |
| transluscent | Allowing only some light to pass through |
| opaque | Not allowing light to pass through |
| waves | how energy travels |
| electromagnetic light spectrum | how different types of radiation is categorised |
| light waves | can pass through a vacuum |
| sound waves | cannot pass through a vaccuum |
| the law of reflection | the angle of the reflected ray is equal to the angle of the incident ray |
| angle of incidence | angle between the incident ray and the normal line |
| angle of reflection | angle between the reflection ray and the normal line |
| the normal line | the line at 90 degrees to a surface |
| the visible spectrum | the frequency of light we can see |
| lowest frequency of light | red |
| highest frequency of light | violet |
| how colour is seen | objects are a certain colour because it reflects that specific wavelength of light and absorbs all others |
| white light | refelects all colours |
| black light | absorbs all colours |
