Para: Recipient: "Es un regalo para mi amigo." It's a gift for my friend
Para: Destination: "Voy para casa." I'm going home.
Para: Deadline: "Tengo que entregar el informe para mañana." I have to submit the report by tomorrow.
Para: Expressing Opinion: "Para mí, es muy importante." For me, it's very important.
Por Think of "por" as the why or how of an action. Viajé por avión." I traveled by plane. (how)
Para Think of "para" as the what or who of an action. "Lo compré para mi madre." I bought it for my mother. ( Who)

para for, towards, to (Para is definite)
Vamos por las calles de la ciudad We're going along the streets in the city. (Along: Por is vague)
Voy para tu casa “I’m going to your house” (To: Para is definite)
El agua está por todo el suelo “The water’s all over the floor” (all over: Por is vague)
El agua va para el cuarto The water’s going towards the bedroom. (Towards: Para is definite)
Está por aquí “It’s around here” (around: Por is vague)
Time:, por takes us “through” time, so becomes duration (for five days, for example). por la tarde. during the afternoon. (during: Por is vague)
Time: para we’re going “towards” some goal – an endpoint or deadline: Lo quiero para la tarde I want it for this afternoon (For: Para is definite)
