Topic: We’ve got a family

TermDefinition
Sibling Rivalry Conflict or competition between brothers and sisters, often involving jealousy or fighting over attention and resources within the family.
Matriarch Woman who is the head or leader of a family, clan, or community, often respected for her authority and wisdom.
Foster Care Temporary living arrangement in which a child is placed with a family that is not their biological family, usually because their own parents are unable to care for them.
Lineage The direct descent from an ancestor; the sequence of generations in a family.
Guardian ad litem Person appointed by the court to represent and protect the best interests of a child or an incapacitated adult during legal proceedings.
Extended family family group including parents, children, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, often living together or closely connected.
Kinship The relationship or connection between people based on blood, marriage, or adoption.
Next of kin The closest living relative of a person, usually identified for legal or medical purposes.
Cohabitation Living together in a romantic relationship without being legally married.
Blended family Family formed when two separate families combine, often after remarriage, bringing together children from previous relationships.
