QuestionAnswer
What is velocity? The speed of something in a given direction.
What is Newtons 1st law? An object in rest will stay in rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion until acted upon.
What is Newtons 2nd law? The acceleration of an object depends upon two variables, the net force and the mass.
What is Newtons 3rd law? For every action there is and equal and opposite reaction.
What is an elastic reaction and what does it do? A type of collision where the total kinetic energy of the system is conserved. It's between 2 physical objects in which the total kinetic energy of the 2 bodies remain the same.
What is thermal energy? Energy contained within a system that is responsible for its temperature.
How do you calculate voltage? Voltage is equal to current, multiplied by resistance.
What is voltage? An electromotive force or potential difference expressed in volts.
What is a current? A flow of charged particles, such as electrons or ions.
What is resistance? Resistance is a measure of the opposition to the flow of current in an electrical circuit.
What things affect the rate of heat transfer? Temperature difference between the objects, The material and thickness of the objects, and the surface area.
How do you tell if a circuit is open or closed? A circuit is open if there's a break in the path for current to flow, meaning no current is flowing. A circuit is closed if it's a complete path, allowing current to flow.
What is the difference between a transverse and longitudinal wave? The direction of the particle motion relative to the wave's direction of travel.
What are the units that we measure frequency in? Hertz.
What's an electromagnetic wave? Electromagnetic radiation is a self-propagating wave of the electromagnetic field that carries momentum and radiant energy through space.
What is a hypothesis? A supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.
Whats velocity's equation? Distance divided by Time.
What does acceleration mean? Increase in the rate or speed of something.
What are the units for work? Joules
How do you calculate work? Force times distance

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
