Types of Poems

QuestionAnswer
a SONG that tells a story; this poem usually has repetition, rhyme scheme, and rhythm and tends to involve death, betrayal, and tragedy ballad
poetry that does not rhyme and is in iambic pentameter blank verse
poetry not written in regular meter nor does it have a rhyme scheme free verse
poetry that expresses the thoughts and emotions of one speaker lyric poetry
