| Nonrenewable Resource | A resource that takes millions of years to form and cannot be replaced quickly (e.g., coal, oil). |
| Geologic Process | Natural events like plate tectonics, erosion, and weathering that shape Earth's surface and affect resource distribution. |
| Groundwater | Water stored underground in soil or rock layers. |
| Natural Hazard | A natural event that can cause harm, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, or floods. |
| Seismic Activity | Movement in Earth’s crust that leads to earthquakes. |
| Tsunami | A large ocean wave caused by an underwater earthquake or volcanic eruption. |
| Hurricane | A powerful tropical storm with high winds and heavy rain. |

| Volcano | An opening in Earth’s surface where magma erupts. |
| Flood | The overflow of water onto normally dry land. |
| Forecasting | Predicting future natural disasters based on data and evidence. |
| Engineering Solution | A design or technology created to reduce the impact of natural hazards (e.g., earthquake-resistant buildings). |
