TermDefinition
central idea The main point of the text.
supporting details information that is included in the body of a paragraph. Explains the main idea or central idea.
opinions cannot be proven. A belief that someone has.
facts True information that can be proven. We include facts in informational text.
non fiction Text that the information is true and can be proven.
narrative nonfiction Writing that may include vivid descriptions. Often focuses on people and events.
articles writing that includes informational or narrative nonfiction. It may contain photos, tables, and charts.
procedural or how to texts presents steps in process
