illuminate To light something up or make it easier to see or understand.
scorch To burn something slightly or damage it with intense heat.
bewilder To confuse someone so that they do not understand what is happening.
emerge To come out of or appear from somewhere.
summit The highest point of a mountain or the highest level of something.
mesmerized Completely fascinated or amazed by something.
luminous Giving off or reflecting light
scrubby Covered with small, rough bushes or plants.
elder An older person, especially one who is respected for their knowledge or experience
intolerance A lack of acceptance or respect for people who are different.
