Saxon Geometry 5/4

lines, segments, rays, angles

QuestionAnswer
Line Goes on and on. Has an arrowhead on each end.
Segment Part of a line. Dot or "endpoint" on each end.
Ray "Half line" Begins at a point and continues without end. Has an arrowhead at one end and a dot at the other end.
Parallel Going in the same direction and stay the same distance apart.
Intersect When lines or segments cross.
Perpendicular Intersecting lines or segments that form "square corners' (right angles)
Vertex The point of an angle where the two sides meet.
Right Angle 90 degree angle formed by perpendicular lines.
Acute angle Angle less than 90 degrees. Smaller than a right angle.
Obtuse angle Angle more than 90 degrees. Larger than a right angle.
