The Mission System

adobe (noun) a type of brick made of clay and straw and dried in the sun
missionary (noun) someone who spreads religion to others
convert (verb) to persuade someone to change his or her religion
agriculture (noun) growing crops and raising animals
tallow (noun) a product made from animal fat. Tallow was used to make soap and candles.
vaquero (noun) the Spanish word for "cowboy"
rebel (verb) to fight back against authority
mission (noun) a religious community where native people were taught to become Christians
irrigation (noun) bringing water to dry land from another source
ElCamino Real (noun) a single road linked to all of the missions and presidios
