| Term | Definition |

| Conservative | person who generally favors more limited and local government, less government regulation of markets, more social conformity to traditional norms and values, and tougher policies toward criminals |
| Demographics | statistics that describe a population in terms of personal characteristics, such as age, gender, income, ethnicity, or education |
| Disfranchisement | the act of depriving individuals or groups of their right to vote or participate in political decision-making, often through legal or social barriers. |
| Exit Polls | a poll of voters taken immediately after they have exited the polling stations. |
| Fifteenth Amendment | prohibits the denial of the right to vote based on race, color, or previous condition of servitude (slave) |
| Focus Groups | a research method where a small group of people, selected for specific characteristics, discuss a topic in a moderated setting |
| Grandfather Clause | a provision in a law or rule that allows something that was previously acceptable to continue, even if the new law or rule makes it illegal or restricted for new situations. |
| Instant Response Polling | People will watch a speech or debate and use a clicker to report when they hear something they liked or didn't like |
