| simple event | there is only one outcome such as flipping a coin or spinning a spinner |
| probability experiment | a test in which you perform a number trials to measure the chance of an event happening |
| relative frequency | the ratio of favorable outcomes to the total number of outcomes |
| experimental probability | the ratio of the number of favorable outcomes tot he total number of outcomes |
| sample space | the set of all possible outcomes |
| uniform probability models | experiments in which all the outcomes are equally likely to happen |
| theoretical probability | the ratio of the number of favorable outcomes to the total number of outcomes |
| complementary events | two events in which either one or the other must happen, but they cannot happen at the same time; the probabilities of each added together equal 100% |
| compound event | two or more simple events at the same time |
| theoretical probability of a compound event | the ratio of the number of favorable outcomes to the total number of outcomes in the sample space |
