2-D Figures & Symmetry
| Term | Definition |

| symmetry | shows that both sides of the shape are exactly the same when divided on a mirror line |
| scalene triangle | a triangle where all sides are of unequal length (NO sides are equal) |
| isosceles triangle | a triangle that has at least TWO sides of equal length |
| equilateral triangle | a triangle where ALL the sides are of equal length |
| square | a 4-sided figure with 4 equal sides and 4 right angles |
| quadrilateral | is a polygon with four sides and four angles |
| parallelogram | a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides |
| rhombus | a figure with 4 equal sides, opposite sides parallel, and opposite angles are parallel |
| rectangle | a four sided figure with four right angles, and opposite sides are parallel |
| trapezoid | a figure with four sides, and one set of parallel lines |
| acute triangle | a triangle that has 3 angles less than 90 degrees |
| obtuse triangle | a triangle that has one angle greater than 90 degrees |
| right triangle | a triangle that has one angle that is exactly 90 degrees |
